Cancelled my holiday to Tenerife.

I was suppose to be flying to Tenerife on Saturday for a weeks holiday but have decided to cancel.The Corona virus is getting too serious to now ignore.My wife had shingles last year and this reduces your resistance to infection,there is another 70 mph storm moving in on Saturday and a couple of close members of the family have been taken into hospital recently(not Corona!) so we have made the difficult decision not to go on holiday.We will lose the £1200 that i have paid but I feel that it wouldn't be a relaxing time.What would you guys have done in my position?

I'd have cancelled too, in those circumstances. I might have asked my GP to confirm that with reduced immunity it was unsafe for your wife to travel, and then maybe your insurers would refund you as otherwise you would be travelling against medical advice.

If you had gone, and your wife took ill, you can be sure the insurers would try to wriggle out of paying...
