Hi

I am working on a project which requires me using a Xenon HID car headlight, however I need some advice as to what I need in order to use this on a mains plug (UK).

I have a power supply: 12V 10A Power Supply,120W Power Adapter 100-240V AC to: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
(https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-100-240V-120Watt-Transformer-Monitors-Black/dp/B08K4BGKM3)

And this is the bulb I have found: D2S Xenon Bulbs 6000K White 35W HID Headlight Direct Replacement 12V Car Headlamp Bulbs (Pack of 2): Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
(https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xenon-Headlight-Direct-Replacement-Headlamp/dp/B08DHSS22W/)

But need to know what needs to go between the power supply and the bulb. If someone could advise please I would be grateful.
Thanks
Steve

A xenon headlamp needs an ECG (electronic control gear, aka ballast) to convert the 12V DC into high frequency AC. Some types also need a separate ignitor that connects between the ECG and the lamp.

There are four popular 'standard' types of lamp that are not model-specific. All are 35W but have different requirements for ECG and ignitor:
D1: 85V ECG, integral ignitor.
D2: 85V ECG, requires separate ignitor.
D3: 42V ECG, integral ignitor.
D4: 42V ECG, requires separate ignitor.
Then for each of these types there are two versions, suffix 'S' is designed for projector optics and has a completely clear envelope, suffix 'R' is designed for a reflector and has part of the envelope masked to control glare.

Your link is to a D2S lamp. This therefore needs an 85V 35W ECG and an ignitor.
