Hi mates,

I need help in my project witch is not working and I don't know why...

So I made 16 LED's in parallel each of 4 in series... (On my car roof) connected it to port plus - minus and it works correctly. Also made leads to this project of plus and minus check it out.

But there is no AUX output in my stereo so I used line-out witch is the same (I guess )

Conected it everything right, checked it more than 10 times, so where is the problem? Is graphics faulty? Or car stereo isn't compatible with this project? I know that it should work cause when I plug on my sub and line out, and when I turn potentiometer I hear that hard noise and when I don't move potentiometer stick it goes to normal sound... That means, that every component is still working... Nothing is fried out...

Also, how to know that my TIP31 ( I used BD241C - It's the same) Is not fried also? maybe I bought broken one? But it looks just fine... Because it's all in my car, and all wires are wrapped above roof, there is no chance to test it somewhere else (like PC)

Thanks guys I'm a beginner so scheme is not how you are used to see everyday and please talk in my language of electronics (lame) :D

Thanks for quick reply. You are very helpful. Now I know the problem, but no solutions, yet.

So maybe there is other transistor than TIP31 (BD241C) that does the trick of changing that music waves into voltage? Or maybe there is some electric components that amplifies Line-out?

Lets say I use Line-out plug and connect it to some other electric components that uses plus or minus and amplifies signal, then goes to TIP31? Is that possible and what scheme I should make? And what components to buy if possible?
Again I'm a BEGINNER so I won't be able to create micro chips :D

If you intend to have the LEDs flashing when your music is playing be prepared to be stopped by the Police as to have flashing lights when driving is illegal with the exception of indicators/hazard lights I think you will find for the general public.

Not quite sure what you trying to achieve but it sounds like you need toconnect an amp to the stero via RCA leads cinnected to the 5v out.

As I understood, there is not enough power from Line-out to make TIP31 work as a router that lets get electricity to LED. So I used potentiometer, but that didn't helped, too. So maybe there is a way to make Line-out RCA from car stereo work same as aux output in PC.

For ian.settle1:
Thanks for informing me, but LED lights are in interior on my roof... Like a club inside my car... ;]

Still think you'll get pulled.

Also, this works properly on PC, tested it some time before... Used AUX output (headphones plug-in), so what I need to do, is to make car stereo wires or line out work as headphones... It's the same... I know you guys understood me correctly, so what the solution? How to make in car stereo work same as PC AUX ;]?

Now let's keep on topic...
comes across as pushy or slightly aggressive mate, wont get you anywhere, the man just made a point, chill!!!

Have you checked the polarity of your jack plug wiring to your TIP31?. Is it a stereo jack(3 pole) your using? Is the cabling correctly installed without damage? Are the 16 LED's working? Didn't you try this on your stereo before installing it in the roof lining of your car?

Do you have both left and right channels wired?? Have you tried just one? You don't want to be sending a phase cancelled out signal.

I bought RCA plug for 0.20$ that's kinda ****ty and connected plus wire to center pin and minus to outside round connection. (I guess that's correct, but tried it other and it didn't helped so left it as mentioned)... Also bought that thing that makes 1 male to 2 female connections and yeas, connected both channels, but my sub is connected to amplifier also on both channels only on REAR port... But that makes no difference, that's other language to talk... Yeah, tried all the possible ways: only right, only left, only right to that project and left to sub and all the other ways with that separator thing... But when I connect only one channel with that separator witch is connected to LED's project and sub, I hear how volume goes a bit down from sub, and when I unplug that LED's channel from separator and leave only sub channel, sub goes powerful again... I think that means, that there is some power consumption. Oh and again I hear that noise from sub when connected to project. (while muted, because when volume turned on there is still that noise, but you can't hear it, only feel it with hand on sub...

Yeas, made it the same as in diagram... Checked it many, many times. From jack plus (center pin) to BD241 left side (mines is not TIP31 but it's the same, tested at home) and to POTENTIOMETER 10K and from jack minus (outer plug) to BD241 right side witch is connected to DC 12- (ground) and potentiometer. Also center pin of BD241 is connected to LED's minus.... LED's working properly, cause made leads to DC12+ and ground with switch, to turn them on manually when I want it ;].... Also, LED's has two separate wiring's. One that is connected manually with switch as mentioned, and other that minus connected to BD241 center pin then through LED's and then plus to DC 12+....

It's not a stereo jack (3 pole (you ment AUX?))... It's RCA car stereo wires... You know that bigger ones also called Line-out... One channel is with minus and right plus and other channel with minus and left plus...

Tested only my transistor BD241 at home with white LED's 12v AC... and then I used PC headphones output... (AUX cable) worked very beautifully with 100% volume :D if you want it to blink on lower volume, you need to use potentiometer....
