Hiya guys,

I have been asked to run a supply cable to a static caravan thats on a farm that will never move from it's present location, Having never done any work on a Caravan before I was just wondering if it's possible to put the power direct into the consumer unit in the Caravan or do I need to connect it via a connector??

I'd run it to a commando socket, and if neccessary an isolator/protective device before that, and mount them on a post outside. It's alright saying it'll never be moved, but this way allows for easier alteration in future should the need arise.

have a look in the regs or on site guide that will give chapter and verse ,do it right do it once

Thats what i intend on doing lol.....Thinking of suppling the caravan on a 6mm armoured cable but cant run it under ground so will have to go up High but have never done one that way before so not even sure what I need?:(

I have noticed that the Commando sockets are 16A, Do they come any bigger? As i'm sure the caravan will be pulling more then the 16A and pos more then 32A.............

I have noticed that alot of Caravans have a 16A Commando socket connected but inside they have a fuse board with 32A ring mains, 10A for lighting........ etc,
thats because the stantion that its fed off will only allow 20A
personally id put a fixed commando plug screwed to the under neath of the caravan and have a trailing socket feeding it off a local stantion.

Supply equip for pitch needs to be located no more than 20m from connecting facility, No more than 4 sockets grouped outside.....Also all disconnection devices in caravan i believe need to have ALL conductors including neutrals disconnected...(might be wrong on that) might be wrong on all of that..eeeeeeek
