Hi all,

i've been asked by the local caravan park to connect 2 static caravans up to the supply. The caravans are used, so have a CU which purely need connecting to the isolation switch sitting next to the corresponding meter. was just wandering what certificate to issue? was thinking a full electrical installation cert testing all circuits but stating work as addition/alteration.

any thoughts would be most welcome.

I would issue a EIC for each Caravan, only one circuit though per EIC, you take the ZS at the dist board and the dist board is the ony circuit from the switch at meter position. You could always quote the customer for a EICR as well for the actual Caravan installation, you cannot be held responsible for that, mind you I would insist on seeing a EIC for them if the customer doesn't want to pay you for an EICR, I wouldn't energise them without comformation either way they were safe to energise.

As above re EIC for your work but I would also do an ELi test in the caravan just for peach of mind. If poor earth advise them to get it sorted. Up to them if they request you to look into it. many sites suffer from corrosion throughout their distribution systems

Trouble is the Customer has asked the OP to connect 2 caravans up to an existing supply, any other work will be costly to him unless the Customer agrees to costs, a chat is what should happen between the pair of them. As I mentioned earlier he could give the Customer a quote for an EICRs for the existing Caravan installations or insist on the original EICs for them, anything else is time and money which he may not get paid for.
