Carbon neutral or + by 2016, and the end of Y-Plans

As I'm sure you are all aware y-plans cannot be fitted anymore because of part L but more interestingly I hear no gas ch to be allowed on new builds from 2016 onwards. May just be solar panels and heat pumps allowed (the building has greater thermal properties hence the need for less central heating) due to Part L.
Also how will this affect major energy installers who have signed up to buy fuel cell boilers!!

Any comments anyone?

Well I did hear that new builds were going to be done without gas, but not sure if heat pumps and solar panels will take up the slack, as they need to devlop a better technology if they are.

Heat pumps still require a fair bit of ground to produce a good return at the moment, and solar though IMO better then PV can still not give you 365 days a year guarantee return to heat your water.

I thought for these reasons that the 10kw electric boiler is being introduced, but I maybe wrong

You can't install Combi boilers or y-plan as part L says central heating has to have zones, i.e. S-Plan.

As to who is paying, the householder supposedly should benefit by being able to supply the national grid with their own energy.

Oh dear...Ive wired 3 dozen combi's and a fair few Y-plans in the past month or so. I wouldve thought that if that was the case, we wouldve heard about it by now and there would be hell to pay about the eaga scheme fitting both.
