Hi I'm looking for some advice regarding a career change, I've been in my current job for around 10 years but thanks to our oh so fantastic government I am getting royally shafted with my pay and pension. I am due to start a plastering course next week and would also like to to train in electrical or plumbing with a view to becoming self employed.

Would anyone out there recommend going down the electrician route or go for plumbing?
Ive been looking into the intensive courses but after reading some posts on here the general opinion is that they're all a waste of cash, is this the case or are there some good courses out there?
Could I earn a decent living as a domestic electrician?

If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

You'll spunk 8 grand up the wall for some useless piece of paper if you go down the fast track route.

Either go to night school and do the 2357 whilst working as a mate for experience/ on the job training or don't bother.

I've always quite liked plastering myself, so I hope you enjoy it too. Many advantages over sparking - easy start up costs, less liability etc...

What job were you in? Do you really want to get on the tools in a saturated and competitive trade?
