Hi
Can anyone help me with any help/advice I'm looking at a career change and getting into data cabling I've looked into courses but they are quite expensive ideally would be great if someone could take me on I haven't got an electrical background but I am really keen to learn I'm based in the south east, Berkshire if anyone has any help or advice that would be great
Thanks

probably best just looking on jobseekers website or ringing a few local firms up. You won't need an electrical background to do data as it just consists of pulling cables and terminating with a punch down tool at both ends. I suppose the best thing to learn would be the fibre optics side of it as its more specialist. Also be prepared to work away from home and out of hours/weekend work majority of the time!

Has anyone heard of trade skills for u they are a company who basically train u up they are offering a data cabling course for ÂŁ149 which lasts 1 day is this worth doing as I have no previous experience

if its anything like train 4 trade skills my advice would be dont touch it, but also any qualification you can get that will put you at an advantage over somone else is a good thing. get yourself stuck in there. afterall it is only one day and its another thing on your cv.
