If you had your time again , would you still go down the same career path ? at the age of 34 I'm very disillusioned with the whole sparking game , I have no personal gripe with anyone who has done a short course and become a domestic installer, but I do think the influx of domestic installers is killing the trade and I don't think it will get any better in the future...

If you had the chance to retrain , would you ?

You got some strange misconceptions of the police there my friend.

All I am trying to say is that sparking is a good job and the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

The police generally are stuck between the prevention and detection of crime and the efforts that are needed for that, and a failed Cps, that does't sometimes have the same agenda

It must be soul destroying as well, to see the known regular low lives getting powder puff punishment, or sometimes no punishment, when many many hours or days or weeks of effort have been expended by those police to get them covicted

They are esential to any society, and the support they have off the general public should mean a better society for us all

Conflict with the police usually comes when people break the law, and to all intents and purposes, the ordinary law abiding guy never has dealings with them

They also reflect society,so there are bound to be "the good" "the bad" and the "ugly" in their ranks, but that shouldn't deter people from supporting this vital necessary organisation

I don't know about "misconceptions" but those are my experiences of the police. I don't break the law and I've never been arrested, my opinions of them are based around my perspective as a victim of crime.

The only people who seem to have a positive image of the police is people who have never dealt with them at all.

so the polis lie and threaten you to do as they say? ive always found them quite reasonable, then again i dont break the law, well 35 in a 30 limit isnt exactly a crime..:(
I didn't say they lie.
You say you don't break the law, but only yesterday you said you gave someone a kicking for spiking your mrs's drink. The legal way to have dealt with that would have been to report it to the police, but I think you took matters into your own hands because you knew they wouldn't do anything.
If this guy had gone to the police you can be sure it would have been you that would have been arrested.

It's a sad state of affairs when people who consider themselves 'law-abiding' feel they have to resort to vigilante-style 'summary justice' because they feel the police can't/won't help.
Who is there to fight for the 'little guy' when the police don't do what they are for?

..price on the back £1395..the lady mentioned she thought it was really cheap...he said yes he needed the experience...and the property would be occupied by mum dad and the 3 kids for the time of work!........... That my friend is what u are up against!! never mind the price of copper!!

Thats INSANE. I mean how much is this guy gonna earn ? I mean he could be looking at lunch money. Shocking. and i bet she went for it. To say its that cheap so as to get experience is just a joke. i mean what happened to working for an industry upholding a standard to help the industry. this is exactly where the whole show is falling in todays climate........Its no thought for future just.. To be honest this guy at this price will soon get fed up of working around people and takign the stick for NOTHING.......

For anybody who is thinking about leaving I would say give it a go as at the end of the day providing that you dont leave it to long you will be able to get back into the game no-probs, but by the same token Sparking I would say is a really good, enjoyable and fullfilling career. .

Yeah i do agree with you here. I too left the trade, done apprenteship at BBC from school...then got in music technology and production and promotions. was doing that for 8 years, traveled the world and lived a dream. had few little electrical jobs i done to keep in there. but Then got into the internet game music downloading before the 1st bubble burst....So tryed few things....BUt you know what, i always missed the sparking. mainly because of 1st being own boss, and also the people i worked with. that made big difference. the muppets i had to face in the music industry was horrendous....Back stabbing pretentiousness...I missed the real world and dealing with normal people ....ok its cut throat....BUT now im been back for a while its rolling, and reference to what someone said earlier, just sticking with it for long enough helps , not to just jump ship when going gets rough, because people once they know you do the biz will want you again and they will tell there friends. That dont mean being mr cheap " i work for a ham sandwich" but being reasonable in price and high quality workman ship no corner cutting...and after while it gets noticed...people notice and they will pay for your reputable name.
