Hi

I am new to this site and was hoping i could get some advise and guidance please.

I'm 27 and for the last 9 years Ive been working as an estate agent, over the last year i have not been too happy and have decided to change my career and an electrician is something i thing would interest me. Luckily my best friend is an electrician and has offered me work as they have contract work on office blocks in London city. Once ive settled and am used to this type of job i would like to get fully qualified and i was hoping someone could advise me the best route to do this i.e which course and what qualifications i need to get.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Flowermi

full c&g 2356 or is it 2357, recently changed. that 2 -3 years, then 2382 , 2394/5 along with practical experience. forget all these " become an electrician in weeks" courses. they're all mickey mouse.

2356 is the Part time one (or rush course) class room and Rigs
i think the 2357 is normally for Apperenterships (dam thats a bit word)

Well go for the 2357 and work with your mate, might be able to get some money off the course (funding from the company,so many govermental scams)

Or 2356 and do day release or evening class..

It will be about 2yrs.. basically what Telectrix said

Thanks for you response and help!!!!

I thought this would be the case the guy i emailed at training and electricial said i could do the City & Guilds 2365 Level 2/Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation which would take an evening class which would be one evening per week 6pm – 9pm which didnt sound right as most my friends went to college for at least a year.

If any of you had one piece of advise to give me what would it be?

thanks.

ahhh

Practical Guide to Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations: Amazon.co.uk: Christopher Kitcher: 9780080969077: Books
This book is more 2nd year stuff but get to grips sooner
as for other books wise (this is coming from a Dyslexic and i would sooner BURN BOOKS YAA) than read them
Brian Scaddan i dont like, i have all the little books he has done and they REPEAT in every dam Book.
Trevor Linsley lot of the courses seem to work from his book, tho Basic/Advanced are the same book really from Course to course that he "has written"
Christopher Kitcher isnt bad, i do like his books. And dose some Videos on YOUTUBE tho he has a voice you just want to SLEEP to.
