17th edition would be a good idea and also c&g 2391, work is thin on the ground at the moment so the more you got the more chance you have of getting a job

best advice i could give you would to be , get work experience ie on the tools if you can, you would be better taknig the regs if you can afford it. not really sure what else to advise as i don`t know what experience you have along side your quals?? maybee the 2356 nvq if your already in work

Yeah, i dont have any experience in the trade on site. but i have done small jobs and things for people so i know how to use the tools etc, i think im going to look in to doing the regs but where do i go after that?

i would say do the regs mate, then get the experience you need whilst your doing that you could gain the nvq. then when you have enough know how ect you could then go onto doing the 2391. best of luck with it mate

Good news you've got them 3 years out the way, I've still got the 3rd to go, can't wait till it's over.

I was lucky enough to get a job when I started college so I have a couple of years experience in a lot of domestic and some commercial and industrial stuff and I ruddy love it.

Some of the guys at college were getting work through agencies, but then I guess it could be tricky leaving a steady day job which I'm thinking you might have at the moment to go to your chosen work that might not be that regular.

Bit of a catch 22 really.

Bit of a silly question, but have you been getting on to the local companies?

Definitely do the 17th (Always baffled me that it doesn't come with the 2330) and the C&G 2391

Just a bugger that you can't think about the NVQ3 until you find some work.

Get your ECS card too if you haven't done so already.... (oops, note to self)

Good luck with it mate, hope you love it as much as I do when you get out there.

Yeah i did have a job lined up for me when i first started college, kinda like an apprenticeship on the underground, installing CCTV, alarm systems and video advertising ( screens used to advertise on the underground stations) etc

but the company started going down hill as the owner started going on week long benders things like that.

So i kinda lost out on a job.

But at the minute i do have a steady job with constant work.

I did phone some of the local companies and local installers if they needed and electricians mate, but none of them seemed interested because i have no experience with other companies/electricians

Yeah thats abit of downer

And yeah ill look into getting ECS card.

Thanks for the advice mate.
