I have come across a cast iron lamp post fed by SWA up through the middle of the post to the top. I have connected the steel armouring to earth back at the DB (it was not previously connected) . At present, the armouring is not connected to the post, but the cpc is crudely terminated to a screw on the post.

Does the armour have to be connected to the post as well as the CPC even if it is earthed at the DB?

Can a constant force spring be used to connect to the SWA armouring? There is insufficient room to instal a gland.

Comments appreciated.

I would suggest that you re-terminate the cpc at the post to give a reliable connection, the armour does not have to be terminated at both ends if its not to be used as a cpc but as you have already done, terminated at the db.
