I have been asked to run the data cables for a new office network. The system will comprise 12 2gang cat6 outlets wired on a 1st and 2nd fix basis. Is there any special requirements for cat6 apart from segregation? Can I fit ko boxes and capping as per twin and earth? All cables will be run in the loft space

As above - I quite like running data cable, especially in dado type containment.
it makes a good change to run data instead of T+E and the cable is easier to manipulate if required.

Make sure that its not kinked anywhere as you run it in and don't squash it with your clips if you have to clip it.

It's better to have it in trunking/conduit if possible.

Watch your bending radius of the cable if your bends are too tight you will have problems with next and attenuation results. Hopefully you will have the correct test equipment to carry out the required tests as if the office has an IT guy he will require the correct testing information to make sure his equipment will operate at the given speeds for cat 6 cabling.

I fitted Cat6 throughout my house, I used 2way and 4way gangs, I used the solid core cable as there should be no movement, I do not think there is any difference in performace between solid and stranded cable, just think price is different.

I used patch panels at the other end where my switches and router was. I did look into shielding but found out that there is not much point, unless you was in an area that produced alot of noise.
