Hi all, could someone please tell me what is the standard practice when installing a sub main ran overhead on a catenary wire.
1. What do you use to secure the armoured to the wire, are there specific supports or are cable ties sufficient?
2. Do you pull the cable taught against the wire or does it hang down from it?
3. Minimum heights in positions accessible to vehicular traffic, other than crossings. 5.8 metres seems a bit ott to me if it was only going to be a car passing under it on someones drive etc?
4. I have seen previous posts which suggest earthing of the catenary but have not found anything in the regs.
Any views, comments appreciated.

I would like to see a picture of a good install if anyone would be so kind

Without ref' the regs i would support the armoured in any method where as the cable isnt prone to friction of the cat' wire or fastenings while swaying in the wind etc.
If possible with the swa size try leave a half loop at either end, this way if caught by accident its the cat' wire that takes the strain and not the cable.
just use a sensible minimum height as its a private property installation not prone to general public access with larger vehicles.
If concerned about earthing the cat' wire i wouldnt worry about it as your using swa anyway and if you place out of reach as well id defy anyone to argue to case for earthing it in this situe'.
