Hello there, a friend of mine is having her bungalow rewired and the contractor has told her she has to have her kitchen ceiling fan removed as it a hazard. He told her if the gas was accidentally left on the fan would circulate the gas and that the fan motor was a likely spark producer. Has anyone else heard of the regulation, I've looked through my regs book and on site guide and I can't find any reference to this.

How could the gas be "accidentally left on"? It should automatically be shut off if the flame goes out.

Sounds like a load of B.S.

What a load of rubbish the only reason to move a fan is if it's outlet is too close to the boiler flue, and you wouldn't remove it you would just move it
