Hi, This is my first post so if this is not the right place please let me know.

I am looking at wiring a lamp holder (screw in bulb fitting ES27 type) to a cable and socket for use on a ring main. (ie, I am making my own lead lamp with a length of cable and a normal socket on the end.)

I guess its a basic lamp setup.

Are there any foreseable problems in doing this?

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Peter

Use a flexible cable, with a 13a plug fused at 3a,if the lampholder is ES make sure you connect the live (brown) core to the centre contact of the lampholder.

Edit....sorry re-read your post and not sure if you are planning to plug it in to a socket on the ring main or to a lampholder on a ceiling rose??
