Any tips/thoughts on how to remove cellotex from above a plasterboard ceiling with no access from above ??

Been back to check on job today which I'd first fixed a week ago and the builder has gone and changed from rockwall in the ceiling to cellotex, leaving about a 50mm gap 'roughly' where each down light is going... great !! Can deal with rockwall, just pushes away, or rip a few chunks out, but cellotex is going to be a right pain...

Shouldnt really be my problem, told the builder beforehand I need 150mm clearance and was told it was rockwall going in.

Looks like the extras/alterations bill will be going up a bit, got 24 x lights to try and get in.

Any advice please - Thank u,

Sy

I have had this happen to me before. I managed to clear away enough room with and angled drill chewing away at it, saying that the fitting I was installing where fairly large and so it wasn't so akward getting the drill at the angle.
Most important thing to do is inform the client of the extra work necessary to install each fitting, and do this befor you even start installing.

Had this problem before and I managed to cut out a circle through the downlight hole using a padsaw with the blade at an angle away from the light and then cut across the celotex circle and broke it up into small bits and out through the hole, and then pull out any other bits you can reach with fingers or long nose pliers

Flexible shafts are available for drills or maybe a right angle drill. Mad bits cut in any direction. Never tried it but you might be able to eventually cut away enough. I'd wear gloves and glasses though!!

Cheers chaps looks like I'm not the only one then.

Dont you just love builders !! Dont think they know how to meaure in mm, to the nearest foot maybe...

Pad saw it is then. Or might see if I can do something with my Fein, usually good at getting my out of trouble... or might have ago on mad bit, never seen these before.

Ceiling not plastered yet, but really cannot be doing with hatching it all out if possible.

Thanks again,

Sy
