hi,

i've had some work done recently by a professional electrician including replacing the fuse box with a modern one.

i have an invoice receipt but no certificate from the company that did the work. Do i need to chase for a certificate or is a receipt enough to prove the work was carried out by professionals?

Thank you
Paul

Agree with Mark ! Have you paid the bill if so chase them for the certificate or if not ask them if you get it onece this has been paid. It might also be that they will send it to you within 30 days ! How long ago was the work completed ?

The certificate you need is called an EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate)...this should also be accompanied by two further documents called 'Schedule of Inspections' and 'Schedule of Test Results'. Look here: http://www.------.org/publishing/wiring-regulations/forms/formspdf6.cfm?type=pdf This link allws you to download a copy of all the current forms from the people who wrote the wiring regulations.

You need to look at forms 1 or 2 together with forms 3 & 4...These forms are what you require from your electrician...Do not be worried if the form he provides you looks different to the ones you downloaded, that's ok...it is the content that matters, and his forms should contain the same information as to what is in the templates.

The delay might be because he reports the installation to his scheme provider who issues you with the cert, however, you should get a copy of the EIC...
