Hi Gents,

Ive recently joined napit, so i bought their minor works and eic certs. They are awful, filled out a couple and dont like them, for instance theres a box that just says %, whats that for? theres no included deviations or comments on exisiting box, just put it on another sheet.

My question is, i have and like the computer based ones, but the ones i have obviously dont have cert numbers, the printed ones however, have got cert numbers at top rhs, why? if i notify to labc and napit and fill out the correct type of certificate and put that with the notification confirmation, why do i need a genuine cert number?

Is it really all that important to have numbers, as long as the certs ok?

It's a tracking issue, if you get a complaint then the certificate becomes an evidentiary document and it needs to be able to be tied to a specific job. I use the same number for the cert and any invoice/ receipt etc s its easy to identify.

You will also need a unique number for the BS7671 certificate when you register the job with Napit for the building regs compliance notification process.

Cheers...........Howard

Unless BS7671 requires your certs to be numbered with a scam providers info then you're not obliged to do so. I number mine in relation to the month and year, i.e. 2011/08/01, 02 etc so they are traceable. Often they follow the invoice number, but not always.

When I was with NAPIT they did not require you to use their certs or numbers and neither do the NICEIC either

If you're saying that you need a unique NAPIT EIC number to register a Part P job then I would have to query that. NAPIT never required that when I was with them. Have things changed recently?
