Hi, came across another bathroom job today, only want light fitting replacing again, an old wylex 80 A 30ma isolator is fitted from meter which protects all ccts on CU. Does this need a minor works cert? Also gas has no bonding. If the customer does not want to pay for this to happen do i imply that it must to conform with regs...........looks like new gas supply pipe etc has been fitted recently but with no bonding!

Any pointers would be appreciated.

:D

A like for like is classed as maintenance so you dont neccessarily need to certify it.

However to cover yourself and possibly gain some more work, in this insance I would issue a minor works cert, more to detail the defects so you are covered than anything else.

Personally I would certificate everything you do, it shows professionalism, gives peace of mind to the customer, and also gives you a place to document shortfalls in the installation.

Regulation 131.8 could give you food for thought though regarding bonding and the words "any addition or alteration". :)

cheers, i have stressed that upgrading the bonding to gas is a neccesity and have decided that i will not carry out any work until at least the minimum requirements are in place. its only 12m away and is a pretty simple job!................nowt as queer as folk eh!
thanks for all ur input.
