Might seem a simple question to some of you, but when you add the serial nember to any cert, do they have to follow a certain template laid down by a scheme, or can you select your own format and follow on from there.

Do EIC, MWC need to have different format of serial numbers, or can they just follow on from the last cert you issued.

Cheers

I don't think you need to use a set pattern, provided you can look up the certificate you need, before I started using EasyCert (Which automatically sorts the Numbers) I just used the Invoice number that was accociated to that cert

I use a system of first using the date that the inspection was carried out and then the customers initials or the first two letters/initials of a company name.

For example: A customer named John Doe had an inspection carried out on December 04 2009 so my serial number would be 041209JD

and a shop called Fancy Clothes had an inspection carried out on January 17 2008 so my serial number would be 170108FC

(incidently this is also how I number my invoices since I dont use any fancy accounts software, so yeah as above, use the invoice number!)

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
