Hi
Just lost my job as this country in on it's ar*** so thinking of trying going alone just wondering what I need to sign my jobs off. I am fully qualified and upto date so is it just a case of buying some cirts from my local city electrical and signing them?

Thanks guys

Not as easy as that, I am afraid. You have to register yourself with one of these bodies; Elecsa, Napit, NICEIC etc under their "competent person" scheme in order for you to sign off your work. Best of luck.

You can complete EIC's / MEIWC's for your work without registering so long as you are competent, however if you are doing any domestic work notifiable to the LABC then you would need to register with a self certification scheme (or pay LABC large amounts of money in a brown paper bag)

You dont need to be with any scheme, its your choice whether its worth being in one, or doing things correctly but independent of them

Unless of course, you do what thousands of other sparks have done (with success) since the part p fiasco was launched, ignore it

Before this part p, being trained was the main criteria for a spark, nowadays, its pay these useless cartels for no gain, ignoring it or going it alone via Labc

Don't mean to sound nasty but sounds like you have very little experience with this post.

Maybe you could give more information so we can advice you accordingly.

What sort of work are you looking st doing, do you have all the correct tools required to do the work, a vehicle, customers already lined up?
