Hi All,

I've been asked to certify 2 smoke detectors and a heat detector, although I've done my 2391 i'm uncomfortable certifying the heat detectors and as such have declined the job. I've serified smoke alarms before but can anyone educate me on the heat alarm process please:confused:

a heat alarm is used in locations where there may be smoke without fire, e.g. kitchens, burnt toast or the like. generally, they activate to heat rise, typically around 85deg. i think. Bill at accordfire is your expert on fire regs.

Hopefully Bill can shed some light on this. I'm curious whether the same process of testing can be used and what yo use as a heat source to test it works properly. Also which certification docs apply or if you adapt or use the same bs doc we use for smoke alarms

dont know what Cert you would issue but Fire guys at my old firm had NoClimb stuff on a pole for removing heads, testing smokies ( held can in big plastic cup) and a heater with plastic cup to do the heat detectors although I cant mind if it had a temp setting on it
