My mate and I was discussing certs the other day and I said that I had replaced 2no transformers and fitted 1 new light fitting for a client and issued a minor works cert but he said I don't have to issue a cert. I think he is wrong your throughts please

Did you just swap like for like or did you add a new light fitting. If you just replaced like for like you don't have to issue a cert.If you added aanother light, you'll have to issue a MWC:)

Thanks the 2 transformers I replaced were in the kitchen that's why I supplied a mwc is this right special location
All you have done is replace 2 transformers. You haven't added anything to the circuit. If you replace a faulty socket in a kitchen it is the same principal.Like for like.It is a special location, but for the work you carried out you don't have to issue a cert.

Agreed you dont have to issue a cert but if you give a minor work at least you knwo the circuit is safe as does the customer.

On like for like I generally don't issue a cert but do check the Ze to make sure all is ok.
