Hi everyone, hoping somebody can shine a little light (no pun) on my dark situation here, im currently doing my level 3 nvq, with a bit of a problem..
My uncle took me on in November to get me out the **** poor job i was in (valeting) however the company he has is all IT based, i was brought in under the impression i would be going out with a sparky.
Since November the only electrical work ive done has been CCTV (cat5) and a short two weeks work (which i found on my own). I enjoyed what i done and found it easy, i was making ends off, running cables, all in a bar in Sunderland. Which was great! Now im back to sitting around waiting pestering him for work (which is hard to come by)

Im hoping somebody cam tell me they have made it through and passed with similar experience, or been in a similar situation and have had help somewhere along the line! Cheers.

Your NVQ 3 should have the correct units so that the experience you get at work can be entered into the unit as you go along, once you have completed all the evidence routes to prove you have the skills and competence then you are done. If you do not have the correct units for your job, then there is no way you can complete the NVQ. The choice of units should have been decided between your employer, you and the training provider who is delivering the NVQ.

A NVQ is not a pass/fail. You have to prove that you have done certain things, your training advisor should help you to do this, it is his/her job.

Cheers............Howard.

PS, amongst the many things i do, i am a NVQ assessor.
