Change of

I've been thinking about a change of trading name because pv is going to play a small part in my future business plans. Has/is anyone else thinking of doing the same?

I want to keep my registrations and spoke to gassafe and elecsa they say it won't be a problem. I haven't spoken to benchmark or recc but I'm willing to bet they won't make it so easy.

It's very straighforward. I did it with one of the MCS companies I help set up back in 2010, simples, So long as it is just that a change of trading / company name. If you're self employed then you and the trading entity are one and the same it's just a 'trading style'

If a new company then you'll have to handle transfer of assets and liabilities etc.

This is why we never included "solar" in our name

It is a new company. And yes, the downside having having "solar" in the name has become painfully apparent.

Gordon, I set up a new company ltd company that will buy solar savings and asked Gassafe, RECC about changing trading title to the new company, no problem. However, Benchmark my mcs registration body are saying that I need to make a new application for the new company as that is mcs rules.

How did you manage to do it.

Negotiated with our body - NAPIT. - Remember that for new MCS registrants the required qualifications have changed / got tighter.

I spoke to Gemserv this morning after speaking to Benchmark asking them about the rules, they said it rested with the registration bodies. Anyway as a result Benchmark are happy with the change provided RECC agreed.

When I spoke to RECC this morning they were fine but asked me to email them with the details. As of this evening I've not heard back from them.
