changing pendant to fitting

guys,

cables coming through tiny hole in ceiling into pendant. Replacing for fancy fitting with terminal block that wont accept anything. I still cant quite understand how to get a choc box into the ceiling void without creating a hole bigger than the fitting as it's base is no bigger than a pendant base. While also been able to get a fix for the bracket???

can I use wagos and have them between the fitting base and ceiling without been in a box?

You should be able to get a box small enough to fit. choc-box maybe if wago box is too big. but you cant just leave the wagos from my understanding of the regs.

I hate laminate floor upstairs. It really makes my blood boil....Grrr......Roar....Hulk Smash!!!!!

I think itd be fine with wagos as long as it all fits ok and everythings covered, cables not too tight ect.

Some might argue that poking a load of connectors up into the ceiling isn't as bad as looping into the switch.
Not me though.

i usually keep the base of the pendant in place remove flex and connecting block and wire straight into pendant base and screw bracket behind base.

Hi Sparky_FM,
Just a thought, could you suggest one of those fancy circular decorative plaster jobs?
This might allow you to enlarge the hole, fit a suitable junction box and then make good with the equivalent rating of plaster sticking the plaster cover over.

yeah i would normally say you cant leave wagos without a box either but was hoping the base+ceiling sort of covers the enclosure part?
RexT - good idea but I would have thought that although it is wagos and can be hidden etc etc it doesnt leave much option should somebody want to pull down in the future as it wouldnt fit back through, i think anyway?

TBH i wish it was wired at switch cause then it would only be the 1 cable at fitting. Not thatim opening a can of worms
