Hey all - I’m trying to change out a switch only with a combo switch/outlet. After doing the wiring everything seemed to be working but I then realized that the switch also turned off the outlet? Is that normal behavior or did I get my wiring crossed? The combo I’m trying to install has a the standard ground, hot, neutral, and then 2 common (with a thing in the middle that says to break if using 2 circuits.) ideally I’d like a switch and an outlet that operate independtly.

Sorry bad order of pics - but this is the switch I’m trying to replace and the combo I’m trying to install.
I can tell you that the 2 black screws are for the switch and the gold and silver screws are for the receptacle. I hope this helps and welcome to the forum.
