Morning all.

Have a job to install 10 x 9kW electric showers & 14 x 3kW water heaters.

The current plate heat exchanger is not man enough and there are legionella issues, so it’s all going to electric heating.

Anyway, my question is when, if at all, will a 9kW shower pull the full load of 39A?

Does it pull 39A constantly? Etc etc

Cheers :santa5::santa5:

There is no diversity allowed for electric showers so if you're designing the circuits you have to factor for the full 39a if that's what you're after?

No mate but it has the potential to pull 39A if the shower is turned on full and if the water its heating is extra cold eg in winter. The element inside the shower is controlled by the temperature dial so if its on half way it will use half the current to heat the water going through it. If you have a clamp meter test the shower cable at different levels and see what its pulling.

I agree, the shower's full load will be allowed but you need to liase carefully with the client regarding the use of the showers and how you arrive at a figure for maximum demand ie. what are the chances of all 10 showers being used at the same time plus a handful of water heaters?

Potential for some large loading there!

All the showers will be on at the same time, the water heaters are a bit more sporadic.

Btw kinky its too early for chrirtmas smilies, its only July :):):)

Soon be christmas mate! :)

The shower will pull 39A most of the time it is on. The can has 2 elements in it, one which will be used if you select 'half' power option but both elements will be powered up if you are on full power. The temp. gauge is a water regulator which allows the flow of water to pass through the tank. The hotter you want the less water flows through the can and colder the pressure is more!

Cheers
