I need to joint a 2.5/3 SWA to a 1.5mm HO7 then bury it. Don't need to worry about glanding the armour as it's good the other end (I suppose I could bond it to the cpc if we're being picky).

A 'proper' expensive IPX7+ box is a bit OTT for the job, and a SWA joint kit might not like the twiddly 1.5mm. Was thinking about just using some strip in a small adaptable box then filling it with resin?

In the past I've used a plastic adaptable box.
Gland off the SWA as normal, the use a stuffing gland for the flex.
As you say, fill the box with resin, either with the lid off, then quickly put the lid on, or fill through a knock out.
Make certain you wear gloves.

That's what I figured, in which case the job's an easy one as that's exactly how it's currently connected on a post above ground! Right then, anyone got any gunk on the go?

I have done what you are doing in the past and used a tin of fibreglass resin from a car repair shop cost about ÂŁ8 but dont use all the hardener as it can get quite hot during the curing process.
