I have fancied a corded multi tool for ages. Since I became aware of them I keep seeing situations at work where they would be handy. I do not have the cash for a Fein/Bosch/Makita so need a cheapo version that will do me for the odd times I need it.
I have been looking sub ÂŁ80 and have seen Erbauer, Draper, and Einhell for that price range.

anyone got any experience of these cheaper models, or general advice about multi tools?

Cheers but I might avoid the aldi one. I can't see the batts lasting long or having much grunt. I have had some ok stuff from aldi in the past though.

I might check out that CPC one. At that price it's almost disposable ! I just want one to have a go at work and home with, see how useful it ends up, and maybe buy a decent one down the line.

Bought a corded Worx Sonic Crafter from b-an-q 2.5 years ago as I couldn't justify the expense of a Fein either (As much as I wanted one) and it's still going strong. Never let me down. hombaze and rgoz are doing them for ÂŁ50 Also for replacement blades try googling "sharkblades". They do 10x 35mm bi metal blades for under ÂŁ30 - all multi tool makes.
I also invested in a CEL AC20 Universal Blade Adaptor (Ammazon ÂŁ14.90) which means I can use other manufacturers blades including the CEL AC18 Carbide End (ammzon ÂŁ19.90 for 3) which are the dogs for chopping out plaster for back boxes.
I'm sure a Fein would be better and if I used it every day I could justify the expense, but for the times I need a multi tool this fits the bill.
(typo's are deliberate)

Cheers mate....loads of good info to look up there :icon14:

Whats wrong with an old set of chisels and a lazy morning :cheesy:

Don't get me wrong I enjoy a good bash as much as the next bloke. Sometimes a little finesse is required though. Mainly getting one to see how they do on tile work and fiddly box chopping.
Would have come in very handy on the last kitchen job I was involved in where the customer decided to ask us to wire the kitchen after the plasterers and decorators had finished. She made good round our chases and sockets with ready mixed filler. Looks lovely. :nonod:

Went and bought a Clarke one today for ÂŁ44 inc vat. Quite happy, seems to do the job but I've only had a little play as yet.
Fits Bosch blades as standard, although looking on the web there seem to be quite a few universal fit OEM blades on offer.

Good one, they are very useful on that odd occasion when you need them.
That is where you buy the ÂŁ10 blade set from Aldi!
If they will fit, it looks like they may, but you can barely lose at that price, I have seen single blades for the same amount.

The aldi blade set looks like the same type (function wise) blades I got packaged with my tool, and Clarke do their own 5 blade set for only ÂŁ12. I'm in need of some carbide rasps now, I think I will get them from the sharkblades site that Willruk recommended as they seem good value.
