HI,
So a popular thread – another person with an ELECSA ASSESSMENT coming soon. Limited (recent) experience in wiring, and previous experience probably not to an appropriate standard (did wiring for a builder)!
So ... like most I decided to change the CU in my house (most my other stuff is Commercial), thinking this should be straight forward as it was done post 17th Edition, in 2006 (although I knew it shouldnt be as I ended up connecting the underfloor heating, thermostats and controllers to the boiler as the electrician said he didnt know how to do it!).
So I have come across some issues. I was hoping someone could clarify my changes are in line with BS7671.
Its a TN-C-S system - Original CU was setup as follows:
3 Unprotected MCBs off MS (6A lights, 6A lights and 6A smoke alarm)
5 protected MCBs off RCD 63A (40A Shower, 32A Ring Main, 32A Ring Main, 32A Ring and Radial (3 lines) , 32A Cooker)
6mm Earth Conductor and Bonding to Water (Tails are 10mm csa)

The issues that I found were
a) The upstairs lights were running 240v lighting in an ensuite
b) The Downstairs lights were running 240v lighting in a bathroom and the outdoor lights
c) The radial and ring running into 1 MCB
d) The Earthing Conductors and Bondign Conductors too small

I have now set up
1 Unprotected MCB off MS (6A Smoke Alarm)
4 protected MCBs off RCD 80A (40A Shower, 32A Ring Main, 32A Ring Main, 6A lights )
4 protected MCBs off RCD 63A (32A Cooker, 32A Ring Main, 20A Radial, 6A lights)
I am also going to replace the 6mm Earth Conductor and Bonding to Water both with 10mm

Any thoughts? Thanks :)
