Christmas Gifts?

Its soon that the time of year is upon us again and does anybody give out xmas gifts to customers for the business recived through out the year?

Any examples of extravagant gifts given out in the past or just the usual bottle of whisky/wine or even the occasional turkey!!

I would have thought you would be better off giving something that they could put on their desk with your number on like a note pad or desk diary, will depend a lot on your customer base. I only do domestic so there is little point in me spending loads of money on my customers as i may not get another job from them for 10 years.

i was thinking the same. Got a couple of people i want to sort for helping throughout the year (person who has made sure i got my recent large elec contract, wholesaler rep who DOES help me out, and my local electrifix counter staff who deserve a tin of choccies at least!) Not talking mega bucks, but did wonder what others did?

Domestic think it would be virtually nothing really. I did though send customers a christmas card always helps them to keep you in mind and the possible referral.
Box of choccies or a bottle of wine yes for the wholesaler guys as they can be of great help, but with so much done on the internet now that seems to have gone.

Commerical/Industrial a little different. It's a matter of targeting, the girl that does the invoices, whoever you deal with on the shop floor, The bids/purchasing department, technical departments and bosses/exectives. Lower end would be a bottle of something whatever their tipple is. Working up perhaps an hamper or something like that. Top end take them for a meal, then give a nice few bottles of decent malt or wine.

I send cards to the last years customers with contact details in case of problems over the festive period. Tin of chocs to wholesalers. this year i have already been give a bottle of cava from a customer, lets hope for more of that.
