Church lightning conductor

Hi all , my local church warden has asked about the testing
of the lightning conductor as part of a general checkover of
the electrical system , told him I would find out on here !
Is this a "special test" that has to be carried out by installers
of the conductors or can I do basics such as inspecting mechanical
connection for soundness / corrosion etc , any advice appreciated , Ken .

Do you know the requirements of a Lightning Protection system??

If they need a certification certificate, i doubt if your DI credentials will suffice for their insurance company!!

Get a lightning protection company in and charge a fee on top of that for organising etc. the tests are basic and not too involved but as said above for insurance purposes, best to cover your arse.

Totally agree with atm84, For this particular Job you let a company who installs them test and verify, add your 10% mark up on their invoice and let someone elses insurance cover the system.
