Hi there, I'm currently doing the 2365 level 3 diploma. City and guilds have apparently changed the 304 unit to a new number - 614. We've been told this is now a closed book exam, and we've been guided on what to read up on. Has anyone else heard of this change? I get the feeling my place of training is making a mistake saying it is a closed book exam, as this is the first time they've run this new unit. I can't find any information on it, so I'm hoping someone can shed a bit more light on it. It seems odd that this level 3 unit for inspection and testing is closed book, but the new 2391 is open book.......

thanks
Ben

Yeah, it's all change on the 2365 (more so on the level 3, but there are some changes on bits of the level 2, too).

Unit 304 is now assessed by:

Assessment 614 Task A: 3 hour practical assessment (inspect and test, initial verification)
Assessment 614 Task B: 2 hour short written answers closed book exam
Assessment 624: Multi-choice "e-volve"

Information about what is in the multi-choice is in the (new) Qualification Handbook, available from C&G at: cdn.cityandguilds.com/ProductDocuments/Building_Services_Industry/Electrical_Installation/2365/2365_Level_3/Centre_documents/2365-03_L3_Diploma_Qualification_handbook_%20v1-4.pdf

There is a bit of info about the other assessments - including a handy table for "new" and "old" assessments - in a FAQ document at: cdn.cityandguilds.com/ProductDocuments/Building_Services_Industry/Electrical_Installation/2365/Centre_documents/2365_Assessment_Amendments_FAQs_Oct_17.pdf (pages 6 and 7 are most useful).

C&G have not produced any mock/sample papers (to my knowledge) for the 304 written paper (nor the 302 written paper), I guess it's up to individual colleges/training centres to prepare you for this/these assessments.

But I'm afraid yes, it's closed book, sorry!
