hi guys id just like to offer this useful link to anyone undertaking the dreaded 2391 - 10 inspestion & test exam, iv discovered a web page with some questions that some peeps may come across in there exam, the questions can be viewed at 2391samplequestions.blogspot.com hope you find this useful, i know i did :)

How city and guilds tell people to approch this exam is wrong in my oppinion. Candidates are advised to go for the 20 "short answer" questions first before moving on to the 6 structured ones. The way i tackled this one was to do the structured questions first and allow about 1 1/2 hours for them before doing the 20 short answer ones. In my experience this gives you a better chance of passing as the 6 structured questions are worth 15 points each. Try to answer as much as you can on the long questions as even if you dont get the whole question right you may still pick up some marks for attempting it.
Hope this helps all candidates.
Glenn.

Good post mate.

I my personal experience i found it easier to do it the other way around. The i did the 20 short questions first and answered all the ones i knew without doing a lot of thinking, then as i did them the answers to some of the others fell into place, so i went back and answered those. the ones that i couldnt answer fairly quickly i left till the end. I then went onto the structured questions which were all concerned with one scenario. I approached this part as if it were a job i had been given to do, and answered it accordingly. i found that putting myself into "work mode" made the task appear easier as this is what i do day in and day out. You rightly state that you will pick up points for not answering the whole question, and i was also told that you will pick up points for answering the question incorrectly if you use the correct methods with calculations, the reasoning behind this is that in the real world you will have all the reference material to hand and would have got the correct answer by using the correct methods which you have demonstrated you can do.

I answered all the questions on my 2391 and passed at the first attempt, but not before doing a lot of hours revision every night and weekends for 5 weeks.

Cheers..........Howard
