Hi everyone,

Just like to ask some of the older members as a electrician from ireland i sat the city & guilds courses 236 part 1 & 236 part 2 some years ago and obtained 2 certificates one for each and was wondering would these certificates qualification enough for me to work as a electrician in the UK or do I need to get 1 combined certificate or do I need to sit more exams.

hi brian i think you will need the 17th 2382 min 2391 advantageous

i done my 236-1-2 way back in between 75/78 done the eal domestic installer in 2007 ( witch i did,nt really
need to do) done the 2382 17th edition 2008 and the 2391 march

i think your next step should be the 2382 17th ed

I did the 236-1 and 236-2 in the mid 80s.Done the 17th in Feb this year.Still didn't help as i have been out of the game for a while.Have enrolled to do the 2392-10 in August and i hope that will help:eek:

I have enquired to JIB about obtaining a card but they replyed saying that I need to have the 2382 17th edition to gain the card, as I am from southern Ireland, I made enquires here about courses but with no luck is it possible to do the exam online or would I have to attend a college to do it.
