I recently started an apprenticeship and bought myself the CK premium tool kit, which includes almost everything I was told I'd need. I bought these in good faith after reading all the wonderful reviews. On first use today one of the Phillips head screwdrivers - PZ1 - the tip snapped in half! Also the corner of the small flat blade has chipped making it unusable. This is not down to them being manhandled or misused, seems I maybe got a dodgy batch? I'm impressed with everything else and the terminal screwdriver took a good load of work today no problems.

Has anyone else had any problems with these? Do CK provide any kind of guarantee/replacement offer? I bought the kit from Amazon and they want the whole lot back (which is not going to happen!).

A few years ago there was a batch of CK drivers that had over hardened tips which were brittle and easy broken. It's quite possible that because the tool kits sell much slower that individual drivers or driver sets that some of the brittle drivers are still within the premium tool kits currently sold. I would contact CK direct and raise the issue with them, as clearly the drivers you have are not up to CKs usual manufacturing standard. C.K Tools UK (Carl Kammerling International Ltd). Glanydon Industrial Estate PWLLHELI Gwynedd LL53 5LH. Telephone 01758 701070.

I am aware there is a lifetime guarantee on CK tools, whenever one of mine have snapped taken it back to wholesalers and get it swapped over no questions asked

Well phoned them today and was told because I bought them from Amazon, my contract is held with Amazon so to contact them. Amazon's only option is to replace the whole set! So I'm gonna end up with the kit that has probably been sat right next to the one I received for a couple of years and likely contains screwdrivers from the same dodgy batch!

Will keep the tags on and sell them on I think. Can anyone recommend a reliable set of VDE screwdrivers? It's a bit of a faff returning things where I live.

Have bought a Bahco set. Might keep the C.K ones as spares as I don't feel like essentially scamming someone although they may be fine. The original C.K terminal driver has been fine right enough, that's the only one I'm likely to need to have a spare for.
