When coming out of work you are entitled to contributed JSA for 6 months, is it ok to claim this whilst setting up your business, and is it possible to get your 17th edition upgrade paid for to get you started, inspection and test would be nice but my guess is that would not be seen as essential to get you back into work.

As long as your not working while setting up your business,i can't see a problem.Just phone the jobcentre and they will put you straight. They will pay for your 17th,but only after 6 months of unemployment. They won't pay for the 2391-10 thou. They also do something called the advisory discretionary fund up to a limit of ÂŁ300 but they don't advertise it.It is to help you buy tools and sorts if you have been offered employment.

yeah its ****.... you have to be out of work for atleast 6 months before you can start getting some help... you have to be on Income based JSA... You have to be actively looking for work to claim JSA, so even if you were starting up on your own you would still have to pretend that you are lookin for a job.

Just dont tell them. Good luck getting anything from JSA...3 months and they wont give me anything. Not even 17th or 2391 which I can get both for a total of ÂŁ400 or just under.
My mate was on JSA ofr 6 months and got nothing............................!

where are you getting the courses at that price, is that ÂŁ400 for both? or the price for each one

I would really like to get inspection and test under my belt

after you have been on JSA for 6 months....most colleges let you do part-time courses free of charge.. so you could do the 17th edition etc that way... but 6 months is a prety long time to be out of work..
