Just finished a job and got pulled on the fact that i had a screw terminal joint in a loft space, he says this is a no! no! due to accessibilty for testing, maintenance etc etc.....
My question is what defines accessibility as i could with a pair of steps quite easily access this joint. Also he points out screw terminal j.b.s cant be used under floor boards etc and is even in the 16th edition, although he was happy for me to put a adaptable box on with the new style compression connectors in.
Has anyone else had this issue, i can appreciate the regs if this is the case but j.b.s are still been used widely.

I have had this before and the issue was not with it being a JB in a loft it was the fact that a terminal box had been concealed as when they insulated the loft it was not visable.

Argued against this till i was blue in the face but still ended up changing it.

This one was screwed to a rising beam so insulation wasnt a problem and having joints covered by insulation in itself may be questionable unless cable calculations had allowed for it.
