Clean Suggestions for Cutters 10-25mm

Basically putting some 16mm Bonding in and wonder if there is any
EASY
CHEAP cutters that can handle it.

Tho bonding is 10-16mm ..i figured if it could do 25mm (tails) then it would be there if i need it for such a thing.

Look up cable croppers as appose to cutters, you only need a small pair.

That's what I use Lee. Spot on they are, keep a good sharp edge. Half decent for dressing smaller cables such as 2.5mm if you're careful with them. They also slice through 25mm tails easily Duane. Not the cheapest but well worth the extra few quid.

knipex shears for me.

ive got the 165mm pair for upto 16mm and i use my 230mm long pair for the bigger stuff or micc

you can get them cheaper elsewhere.


(ive cut 25mm with these below)

but obviously using the bigger set is a lot easier (big set are rated for upto 70mm fine stranded)

you dont need shears for 6mm. you can cut 10/16mm with a decent pair of snips

No, they aren't VDE.

I'm trying not to buy anything that isn't gs38 compliant.

you got conned mate. nws snips are cheap usually half that

bahco and knipex are cheaper and better (me and another lad have got a pair of bahco and there really good)

have a pair of these they work very well carnt vouch how long they will keep there edge as dont use cables this size a lot but for the price of a pint who cares

im just saying with a sharp pair of snips its not to hard.


a small pair of shears is perfect when you get used to them, can do everything from 1mm flex to 16/25mm with them easily

Hmmm £38 I paid - TBH the alarm bells were ringing when I saw a pair last week, all rusted with flaky chrome peeling off them.

After a lot of hard graft.
My small finger on the right hand feels numb (like I've slept on it) , is that what you mean by knackered up hands.

go to screwfix instead next time online, i paid £23 at CEF for a pair of nws. honestly i thought they were going to say they were 50 or something

ill be honest mate, 160mm is fine for most thing's. above 4mm you will automatically grab your shears anyway cause its easier (ive stripped belden with my shears before)

knipex 160mm shears are £20

these are the ones i use, get the vde ones if you want there the same price but different code 95 11 165 for non vde and i think its 95 12 165 for vde

For reference mate, there's no such thing as Gs38 tools, Gs 38 is a guidance standard for test leads and only test leads, the main points are no more than 2mm exposed probe, fused leads and finger guards as well as a few other things. Every days a learning day, that's what we're all here for

Max of 4mm if I remember correctly

I did that the GS38 tools as a joke, like if he said he brought GS38 condoms with a 4mm tip and safe guard for splash backs.
