Wanted to comment on the recent yellow card given to a Member, but the thread has gone to the Arms, seemed like a misunderstanding, hopefully resolved now, best of friends again.

But at least it was out in the open, with both parties having their say, normal stuff!

What we shouldn’t be seeing are the glib, superior attitudes, and nasty responses to posts that crop up from time to time, especially directed at people who are young and inexperienced, (a place that every single one of us has been!) responses like these are a real inhibitor to people looking for help and unsure of their ground, Probably most of these responses are meant in fun but it hasn’t come off!

So, Lets try to clear the air a bit. What’s funny and what’s not? What do People say that could be seen as inflammatory? how can we NOT step on each others toes?

sometimes, it's how the original post is worded. if a guy says " i,m at college/ training/ not much experience"., then usually everybody's helpful. it's when someone who is no,t nor never will be, an electrician and tries to pick brains, to avoid getting an electrician in, that may get snotty replies.

The ones that tend to raise my hackles are the- "I'm a qualified electrician....how do I wire some extra downlights?".....there have been a few of those,I'll try not to bite in future:cool:

My favourite so far since joining the forum: I have some outside lights, do I connect them up as TT systems and put them on earth spikes. You got to give some of them credit for creative thinking. :D

I offended a fellow forum member recently, it was my fault, so i made an open apology on the forum, the only way to admit you are wrong, is to admit that you are wrong.

It is a forum and we should all remember that we are all entitled to our point of view whether it is right or wrong, and everyone else has a right to debate it.
If we dont like what is written then we don't need to join the debate, just ignore the post and move on. But personal insults are a NO NO in my mind. If some one says I disagree with whatever i have written, then thats fine, but if they say You are talking a load of b******s then thats an insult, unless it is obvious that the post is humourous by its nature.

I have read several threads that have wound me up for various reasons, and i have learn't to leave them alone.

Cheers.........Howard
