Can anyone help and shine some light on wether click fit can be used for a PV install under MCS?? Am i correct in saying that building control dont like it because youre not fixing to the structure of the roof and that youre just relying on the strength of the battens!!

The reason im asking is because ive got a metal framed house with metal roof trusses and they are 33" centres so trying to get a fixing with a normal schuco fixing kit is gonna be very awkward and probably very costly. If anyones got any advice or help itd be much appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

We went through the argument with NAPIT when we registered for MCS. If you follow the manufacturers installation instructions to the correct wind, snow loading calcs. Then they can be used under the MCS scheme.

As for building control I haven't had any experience of any problems, but read as much. So that was enough for us to stop using it as are preferred system. So we now use Hilti.

I kind of disagree that its just on a single baton.
if you thing about it the weight is spread across the tile too, which is partially on top of another tile, which in turn is on another baton below, and also lapped over the tile next to it so quite a bit of area.

Click fit claimed to have been tested to 180mph (so i been told) so if the roof and baton are structurly sound, why wouldn't Click Fit be good enough? or are roof batons not designed to last 25 years?
