Discuss clip-on cable marker in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net
What diameter printable heatshrink as in looking at similar.I tried using cable markers like these some years ago, when changing a consumer unit, to mark up the cables in the old unit. The trouble I found was by the time I'd wrestled the old unit off the wall and jiggled the cables into the back of the new unit, half the markers had fallen off!
If I want to permanently label cables, nowadays I tend to print onto heat shrink tubing with a Brother labelling machine. Temporary labels for a CU change, I just use various coloured insulating tapes, that get removed as the cables are re-terminated.
This sounds like a good idea, I assume you just need a heat gun?Brother make several sizes of tube, see for example:
Brother HSe Heat Shrink Tube Product Guide - https://www.ptouchdirect.com/ptouch/brother-hse-heat-shrink-tube-guide.html
Obviously you can only use up to the size that your labelling machine will handle.
Some of the regular stockists prices for Brother tapes can be a bit high, I often buy genuine supplies but from eBay.
Yes you need a heat gun - electric if there is power, otherwise a small flame one. This sounds like a good idea, I assume you just need a heat gun?
Have you any pictures?
Or a cordless one: Milwaukee M18BHG-0 18v Compact Heat Gun Bare Unit - https://www.ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Milwaukee-M18Bhg-0-4058546029432-18V-Compact-Heat-Gun-Bare-UnitYes you need a heat gun - electric if there is power, otherwise a small flame one.
Sorry, no photos (but there must be lots online).
Oooh, just checked and DeWalt also do a cordless one, why haven't I got one yet!
Tart! ?Oooh, just checked and DeWalt also do a cordless one, why haven't I got one yet!
My DeWalt 18V cordless heat gun arrived at the weekend, tried running it for a little while just to see how the battery lasted, pleasantly surprised that a few minutes didn't seem to drain it very much, still full battery LEDs showing (not very scientific, I know). I can finally get rid of the gas one I hate, and might even lose the mains-powered one as well.Tart! ?
