Discuss Co2 in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I think it's 0.542kg CO2 per kWh generated from a carbon-free source but it's a widely debated figure that is affected by how/what/when you offset an existing fossil fuel source and how you define a carbon-free source. I know of some product manufacturers that use 0.7 as their conversion factor

The latest (June 2013) DECC/DEFRA official figure is 0.44548 kgCO2 per kWh, whereas SAP2009 uses 0.517 or 0.529 for displaced grid electricity and SAP2012 uses a single figure of 0.519 with the new addition of 0.381 for the 15 year projected figure.

I'd argue that the final figure 0.381 is the right one to use for calculating the saving from a new PV installation. Don't even consider using the 5 year rolling average as that is only updated to 2010 and is 0.51694 (when including grid transmission losses and imports).

Standards are much more useful when there are so many to choose from.

Ignore the post in #3 it is of no help. Hopefully someone may know but it maybe a longshot, have you asked on a more specific appliances forum?
