Went to a job today to price some work and the clients had recently bought the hotel. They had a periodic inspection report( dated December 2011), one of the recommendations on the sheet was that some fuses in an old 3 phase db(mem) were difficult to remove. This was classed as a code 2. My questions are 1. Do you guys think this is coded correctly and 2. If it is coded correctly how is it resolved apart from replacing db(which clients are not against doing if required). It may be worth pointing out that the db has no isolatir on it.

a new one on me.....rewirable and cartidge carriers can be tight, but I've never known it coded. Think I would only code it if they were impossible rather than just tight.

They can be pulled out, I've done it! There's no signs of arcing or owt!

Its not unusual, and as long as there is nowt else wrong, then no codes needed really. But again common sense should prevail. You are a Skilled person, and as such are aware of the dangers when trying to remove tight fuses. Mr homeowner is not, and he may use anything to hand, such as knife to remove a stubborn fuse, if he isnt electrically savvy, then you can work out where this could go. In my humble opinion C3, in this case, replace fuses with plug in breakers if a cheap fix is needed.

Cheers............Howard
