Hi Everyone,

looking for some help on codes;

tested a doctors surgery and one of the DB'S is 15th Edition has a 300ma RCD main switch feeding water heaters, sockets and lighting circuits so none of the circuits are protected by a 30ma RCD does this justify a code 2 on the observations? or is it less than a code 2
because its in commercial premises?

Also one of the DB'S has a BS88 fuse feeding sockets am i right in giving this a code 2 ?

My experience in testing is mainly in domestic so I'm not really sure if the same apply's?

Cheers.

What you have to ask yourself is does this installation comply to the 15th edition. If it does then all you can give is a code 3 to any non compliance to the current edition.

PS Why do you think BS88 fuses feeding sockets is a non compliance.

A BS 88 fuse is probably providing a far better closer protection than a MCB!! It's just that it's a one time only OCPD. So no code for the BS88 Fuse. The code 3's will only be relating to lack of 30mA RCD's...

And that is only if they actually do require the additional protection in the first place.

What you should also take into consideration is the usage , its a doctors surgery critcal equipment in there , you wouldnt want a doctor to be using a de fib and the RCD trips , before coding asses the risks
