can someone tell me how the wiring is configured for a combi boiler, fused spur and a thermostat for the heating please.

It really depends on the type of boiler but in general the boiler will have a permanent feed for hot water demand.
It will also have a demand signal from time clock / stat etc for heating.
Some have volt free connections for stat signal.

I'd imagine all the connections are to be done at the fuse spur?
The supply comes from the mains board and into the supply side, you'll need a 5 core flex going into the boiler and a 3 core going to the thermostat.

Do you know how to terminate any of the connetions? They're the only cables you should need for a basic combi system.
 
there is normaly a link in the boiler for a thermastat.
so you take out the link run a 3 core cable from boiler to themostat (constant live ,switched live and neutral) and boiler fed from spur (L-N)
 
We usually have a double appliance box, flush or surface, 1x side withe the 230v supply and the other side the t/stat, then we run 2x 3c heat resis flexes to the combi , 1x mains and the other the stat, taking the link out in the combi .
