Afternoon all,

Just a confirmation question if i can. A mate as asked me to install a fused spur (in his kitchen) for a combi boiler he is having installed.

The CU is an old wylex, no RCD or MCB's, TNCS supply with what looks to be a 6mm earth supplying the board and 6mm bonding to gas and water. (The whole house is only on 3 ways - Sockets, lights and supply for old immersion heater)

If I was to run the cable from an existing socket in surface trunking, would this eliminate the need for an RCD? (OSG p22).

As this would be a modification to a circuit I understand I would also need to run new 10mm bonding to both services and run a new 16mm earth from the supply (which is in an outside cabinet along with the meter).

Thanks all!!

No as all skts now need to be RCD protected unless under supervision or label for a particular.

Also all the Bonding cables would need upgrading to the releavnt size.

Probably best to just put it on a plug top if all the alterations aren't possible.

you are right about sockets but as the op is adding in a fused spur and its all surface then he does not need an rcd
