Hi as i am still learning i was just wondering if some one could clarify if the following is correct.

2.5mm twin & earth from the consumer unit to a fused spur with a 3 amp fuse in it by the combi boiler
then a 0.75 heat resistant flex from the fused spur to the combi boiler
then a 1.0mm 3 core and earth from the combi boiler to the room stat with connections made inside the boiler.

please only sensible answers as i want to learn everything but this is something i havent had to do yet.

Yeh, we use 1.5 / 3x core and earth, but what we do is also install a double surface appliance box at side of boiler or where convenient, use 1x for spur and the other side for you stat wire, this enables you to use another h/ resis/ flex into boiler, cable tied together, just neatens things up a little, then you havent got a pvc/pvc cable actually in the boiler panel, they are both heat resis.

thank you that was very helpful, do these double surface appliance boxes come cheap?

is there any specific reason you use 1.5mm 3 core and earth and not 1.0mm 3 core and earth?

easiest way is to have a wireless prog roomstat, the receiver is fitted next to the boiler and the sender unit (stat ) coldest part of the house but not in a draft.
I use a 0.75 3095y flex to connect the systems.
dont forget the bonding

Yeh good idea, but does his boiler give you that facility .

If you use a dual purpose box box, remember that most stats are now extra low voltage and shouldn't be run alongside or within a 230 volt supply enclosure
I would agree with making connections outside in a box and heat flex from there, but maybe 2 boxes
The radio stats are ok for difficult installation runs, but I prefer hard wired

ive been searching for one of these dual purpose boxes or double surface appliance boxes on the internet but just cant find any.
Does anyone have a link to one for me please?
